Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate MOT issues including pedestrian ingress/egress ways and ADA accessibility, vehicular traffic ingress/egress, turn lane design including curb and gutter, paved shoulder, marking, and signing plans, maintenance of traffic plans, and asphalt pavement mix designs
  • Review applicability of city and county code requirements for roadways, pathways, and waterways
  • Investigations may include soil-related issues, landslides, erosion control, retaining walls, earthwork grading, and stormwater runoff.
  • Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
  • Responsible for retention and development of client relations
  • Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
  • Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships, and promote self to client groups
  • Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years of post-academic civil maintenance of traffic experience
  • Roadway design and construction experience; maintenance of traffic experience
  • Academic and post-academic geotechnical experience a plus
  • P. E. registration required through testing
  • Must possess strong writing skills
  • Public speaking experience a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to drive to site locations
