SUMMARY

The Vehicle Certification Engineer 's responsibilities include ensuring that buses and other transit vehicles comply with various industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements, evaluating and certifying buses to meet specific performance, safety, and environmental standards. The following job description represents a multi-skilled job classification of a bus Vehicle Certification Engineer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on local, national, and international regulations and standards related to buses and transit vehicles.
  • Testing and Inspection: Conduct thorough tests and inspections on buses to verify compliance with safety, emissions, and performance standards.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of certification processes, test results, and compliance records.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies to address any issues related to compliance and certification.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that buses meet or exceed industry standards in terms of safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in the certification process, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to find solutions.
  • Prototype Evaluation: Evaluate prototype buses to determine their compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate certification requirements and results to internal teams, manufacturers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of technological advancements and changes in regulations, and implement improvements in certification processes as necessary.
  • Risk Assessment: Assess and manage risks associated with certification processes and work towards minimizing potential issues.
  • Training: Provide training to relevant personnel on certification standards and procedures.
  • Audit and Inspection Support: Assist in audits and inspections carried out by regulatory bodies to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • If needed, be able to travel to customer or test lab for troubleshooting
  • Mandarin fluent is preferred

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering discipline.
