Job Summary

The Staff Design Checker is a configuration management position specializing in engineering design and definition with expert knowledge of drawing standards, design for manufacturability and serviceability. This position will work closely with design engineering to ensure high-quality documentation and design standards are met.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Checks engineering drawings and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard drafting practices and company standards
  • Trains or mentor others in proper drawing development
  • Recommends changes and updates to the Design and Drafting Standards Manuals
  • Works with engineering team to resolve drawing and design discrepancies
  • Ensures consistency and accuracy in product files generated by the engineering team
  • Drives process development and improvements
  • Enforces and ensures accuracy of bill of materials and viewable associations for downstream use
  • Conduct and approve tolerance stackup analysis

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design, Engineering, Machining, or a related field
  • 6 years experience in design, inspection, assembly, or fabrication
  • Proficient in ASMR Y14.5M (GD&T)
  • Proficient in CAD Software, PTC Creo preferred
  • Able to read, interpret and explain detailed regulations, procedures, and engineering instructions, drawings, and specifications
  • Able to identify over or under defined drawings and documents
  • Working knowledge of surface modeling practices
