Position Summary:

IEM is looking for Full Time- Broadband Construction Field Inspectors to support IEMs State's Broadband Program funded by BEAD and other state and federal funds. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Field Inspector to support the implementation and monitoring of projects under IEM’s State’s Broadband Program funded by BEAD and other state and federal funds. The Construction Field Inspector will play a critical role in conducting on-site inspections, verifying compliance with project specifications, and ensuring the quality and integrity of broadband infrastructure projects across the state.

Primary Location:

  • Several possible states in which work will occur are Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Ohio, Oregon, and Kentucky however, more states may be added.

Travel Requirements:

  • This job will require you to travel around your selected area/district with a mileage reimbursement of $0.67/mi.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct on-site inspections of broadband infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify the quality of construction work, materials, and equipment used in broadband deployment projects.
  • Document inspection findings, observations, and any non-compliance issues for reporting and corrective action.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and sub-recipients to address and resolve issues identified during inspections.
  • Monitor project timelines and progress to ensure timely completion of broadband projects within budget and scope.
  • Communicate inspection results and recommendations to program leadership, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of inspection activities for reporting and accountability purposes.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging technologies in broadband infrastructure development to enhance inspection processes.
  • Other functions may be assigned based on the changing project environment.

Current Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Familiarity with broadband technology, infrastructure, and policy issues is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; additional certification or training in construction, engineering, or related fields is a plus.
  • 1 year or more of previous experience in construction inspection, quality control, or related field work, preferably in telecommunications or infrastructure projects.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites across the state.
  • Knowledge of construction practices relevant to broadband infrastructure projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills to assess construction quality and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with construction inspection tools and equipment.
