MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
*** $3,500 Sign-on Bonus ***
Position Overview:
As a maintenance technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and reliability of our food and beverage packaging line equipment, processing equipment, utility equipment, and all parts of our facility. You must utilize skills in multiple areas such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems. Daily work consists of performing machinery adjustments, equipment changeovers, preventative maintenance tasks, proactive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting complex equipment, and making repairs to equipment in a timely manner. This position has the opportunity to advance within the maintenance department at different levels ranging from Maintenance Trainee up to a Maintenance Technician. This position most likely will work on a 2nd or 3rd shift.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support packaging line, processing, utility, or seasonal equipment as assigned
- Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control systems components
- Install, service, and repair piping components such as valves, traps, strainers and filters, checks, pressure regulating valves, gauges, and meters.
- Troubleshoot and make effective repairs and adjustments to both electronic & pneumatic instrumentation.
- Align and adjust critical equipment such as air compressors, motors, pumps couplings, etc. where misalignment, vibration and high speed are important factors.
- Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and install conduit, wiring, control panels and motor control centers.
- Maintains constant contact with production and processing operators and supervision to obtain maximum machine uptime and Overall Equipment Effectiveness goals.
- Train other mechanics in the proper set-up, adjustment, and maintenance of equipment and supervise the trainee in performing these tasks
- Carries out maintenance tasks within established housekeeping and sanitation procedures, and applicable government regulations.
- Utilize our Computerized Maintenance Management System to document work orders, parts activity, and equipment information.
- Must be able to work well with others as part of a team.
- Participates in all regular meetings as scheduled.
- Self-motivation with little direction is key.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill, and Competency Recommendations:
- Demonstrate mechanical and electrical aptitude via hands-on testing
- Strong troubleshooting, verbal and written communication skills to effectively present to other maintenance supervisors, engineers, technicians, and operators.
- Cross-functional skills in some of the key skill areas such as Electrical, PLC, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Motors, and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely on and around complex, highly automated machinery in a non-temperature regulated environment.
- A 2-year education from a Technical School in the areas of industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or similar study areas preferred.
- Experience in food manufacturing desired.
- Ability to learn and take direction from others
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Able to work all shifts in a 24x7 operation
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years related, applicable experience with machine maintenance and repair.
- Solid record of safety and continuous improvement in an industrial setting.
