Position Responsibilities:

• Responsible for obtaining insurance precertification for surgical procedures
• Communicating with providers and their medical teams as needed
• Reviewing all insurance information submitted by patients to ensure the submission is made to the appropriate insurance carrier
• Submitting precertification to the patient's insurance carrier in a timely manner to ensure authorization can be obtained before the scheduled date of service
• Reviewing patient's medical records to assist with obtaining precertification
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, including orthopedic surgery
• Ability to communicate knowledgeably and effectively with many different insurance carriers daily
• One year of insurance experience in a medical office is preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Knowledge of personal computer applications and Electronic Medical Record
