RESPONSIBILITIES: Schedule surgical procedures as requested by surgeons and/or their office personnel for a high-volume, multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgical Facility. Work closely with the CEO, the OR Supervisor, Business Office Manager and Team Lead regarding steps to maximize accommodating surgeons and their office staffs’ requests. At the time of procedure posting, collect sufficient accurate patient information from the surgeon's office to permit pre-admission and insurance verification. Verification of insurance in order to establish patient's eligibility for benefits and the percentage of coverage that will be patient responsibiity amount. Notify patient or guarantor of balance due on admission.

SUPERVISED BY: Scheduling Team Lead and Business Office Manager

QUALIFICATIONS: Professional appearance and demeanor, confident and strong telephone skills, familiar with CPT coding, thorough knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy, keen attention to detail, experience with verification of insurance benefits and flexible working hours.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to endure long periods of sitting, standing, walking. Must be able to bend and stoop. Work area is heated and cooled; normal office environment.

DUTIES:

1. Accurately scheduling of surgical procedures by phone, fax or email.


2. Print, copy, and distribute the preliminary schedule to nursing / anesthesia personnel at mid-day.


3. Print, copy, and distribute the final schedule to nursing / anesthesia personnel at the close of the business day.


4. Notify proper personnel of any cancellations or add-ons to the schedule for same day or next day when necessary.


5. Back up for insurance verfication and patient notification when needed.

5. Keeps Team Lead and Business Office Manager informed of any adverse situations and works closely with them for resolutions.

6. Performs any other functions as deemed necessary by Team Lead or Business Office Manager.



MINIMUM OF 1 YEAR IN MEDICAL OFFICE SETTING IS REQUIRED; TWO YEARS PREFERRED.
