Job Description

The STEM Student Success Coordinator plays a crucial role in leading the development and implementation of Bergen Community College's STEM program aimed at elevating the quality of STEM education for all students.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervising and mentoring students
  • Acting as a liaison and collaborator with various departments, faculty, and staff
  • Overseeing the recruitment, training, and evaluation of STEM student employees
  • Managing training sessions
  • Handling payroll and grant-related reimbursements
  • Compiling and interpreting data including survey distribution and analysis
  • Creating educational materials for distribution
  • Producing reports
  • Contributing to institutional assessment processes, and recommending resources for program participants
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s required, Master’s preferred.

Experience: Minimum of at least one year of work experience in higher education, preferably in STEM.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of college-level STEM subjects.
  • Experience in supervisory roles within educational settings, especially in higher education or learning centers, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with reporting procedures and experience with web-based scheduling and payroll systems.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and sensitively interact with a diverse and multicultural group of students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
  • Capability to work in a dynamic environment, multitasking and promptly addressing campus community needs.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, internet research, and Google Educational Suite.
  • Creating and distributing educational materials is a key skill.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and a collaborative team player.
  • Good judgment, decision-making skills, and understanding of established protocols.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for conferences and training.
  • Availability to work some evenings.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Annual Salary is $50,000.
  • NJ Educators Health Plan with free Vision and Dental. NJ State Pension plan.
  • 15 vacation days, 15 sick days, 4 personal days, 2 floating holidays, all designated holidays and 5 non-designated holidays a year. 3 Partial Sick Days.
