Greenwood Mills, Inc., a family-owned textile manufacturing business located in Greenwood, SC that makes cloth for our US Military, employee uniforms, and more! We have been in business for more than 130 years!

Currently seeks motivated employees to run our state of the art weaving machines! This is a critical piece to our operation and we need you! You will be shown the area with more description during the interview.

Job Objective:

Operates a set of weaving machines, repairs yarn breaks, creels filling yarn, flags looms needing repair, patrols and inspects cloth and warps on loom

  • Safely operates weaving machines
  • Patrols assigned looms for proper running of machines, stopped looms, warp and filling breaks, crossed ends, warps and filling running out
  • Repairs warp and filling breaks
  • Creels filling yarn
  • Inspects fabric to ensure first quality output; inspects filling, warp, and cloth with black light looking for poly or non-poly ends and/or filling
  • Flags looms needing repair
  • Follows safety rules prescribed by plant
  • Sees and distinguishes defects that occur in weaving process and corrects them
  • Repairs yarn breaks no matter where they occur
  • Works safely around moving parts
  • Lifts 8 lbs to shoulder height as required throughout shift
  • Steps on and off platform
  • Reads basic written instructions
  • Writes legibly
  • Performs simple math
  • Distinguishes colors in stock-in-process and waste
  • Wears ear plugs/muffs, respirator/dust mask, goggles/eye protection, and other protective pieces of equipment
  • Pays normal attention to job duties required to maintain efficiency and quality
  • Meets Harris Plant schedules and attendance requirements as specified in Company Policies

Schedule:

  • 1st shift: 8am - 4pm (training)
  • 2nd shift: 4pm - 12am

Starting Training Pay rate: $15.08 Hourly with $1.00 shift premium, ($16.75/base rate)

Can make up to $20.00 after training
