RN - WOUND CARE
Join our Outpatient Nursing Services (OPNS) team at Hospital!

You are passionate about consistent care and learning new things every day. Due to the rural location of MRH, this position works closely with a small group of patients and understands the value of cultivating nourishing relationships. The right candidate will be excited to perform a wide range of general nursing duties and specialize specifically in wound care.

The Wound Care Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, treating, and monitoring patients with acute or chronic wounds. They collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive wound care plans tailored to individual patient needs. The role requires advanced knowledge of wound assessment, treatment modalities, infection control, and patient education to promote wound healing and prevent complications.

This position is a non-exempt, full-time, benefitted position.
Anticipated schedule: Day shifts
Starting pay range: $31 39.68/hour, DOE.
A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for permanent, full-time hire, with a 2-year service agreement.

Responsibilities:
Provides direct nursing care in accordance within established scope and standards of practice, and with the policies, procedures and protocols, values, and mission of the healthcare organization.
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' wounds, including evaluating wound size, depth, type, and tissue viability. Utilize specialized tools and techniques to accurately document wound characteristics and track healing progress.
Develop individualized wound care plans based on assessment findings, patient history, and medical orders. Select appropriate wound dressings, therapies, and interventions to optimize healing outcomes while considering patient comfort and safety.
Assess and manage patients' pain related to wound care procedures and underlying conditions. Administer analgesics as prescribed and implement non-pharmacological pain relief strategies to enhance patient comfort and compliance.
Educate patients and caregivers on wound care techniques, dressing changes, signs of infection, and self-care measures to promote optimal healing and prevent recurrence. Provide written instructions and resources for continued wound management at home.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, surgeons, wound care specialists, physical therapists, and dietitians, to coordinate comprehensive care plans and address patient needs holistically. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure continuity of care and adherence to treatment goals.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of wound assessments, interventions, patient responses, and progress notes in electronic medical records (EMR).
Report significant changes in patients' condition or response to treatment to the healthcare team promptly.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care practices, protocols, and outcomes. Stay abreast of current research, guidelines, and best practices in wound management to enhance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.
Serve as a clinical resource for the nursing staff to assist with education and guidance. Will on occasion precept student nurses and new hires.
This position will float between wound care and oncology/infusion departments.

Minimum requirements:
Current, unencumbered Utah or compact state RN license
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current BLS and ACLS certifications, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
Current Wound Care certification, or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
Knowledge of infection control principles, patient safety techniques, and prevention of adverse reactions to medications/treatments
Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to maintain same in situations with rapidly changing circumstances
Self-motivated and able to work successfully both independently and as part of a team
Great customer service and communication skills, including oral, written, and listening skills
Able to receive and manage sensitive information professionally and maintain confidentiality at all times
Able to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally; emotionally mature
Reliable and timely with work schedule
Flexibility and willingness to accept other duties as assigned
