Senior Buyer

Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Procurement the Senior Buyer is responsible for the day to day purchasing of materials, equipment and supplies taking into account cost, quality and timeliness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Manage and continuously review the Purchase Order System to insure it is accurate and up to date.
2. Purchase materials in line with company needs
3. Timely and effective communication of forecasts and purchase orders to vendors
4. Check and authorize invoices when required
5. Assist with Semi Annual inventories
6. Expedite Purchase Orders when necessary
7. Communicate with Customer Care and shipping regarding delivery dates of possible back orders
8. Keep Back Orders to an absolute minimum
9. Continuously review vendors and pricing to remain competitive
10. Seek and evaluate possible new vendors
11. Cycle counting as needed to assure accurate inventory
12. Manage vendor relationships
13. Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings
14. Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents etc.

  Education and/or Experience

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2 – 3 years of related experience; or an associate degree and 5 years of progressively responsible related experience or a combination of both.          
• High level of computer literacy, to include Word, Excel and Outlook
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work with others
• Ability to complete purchase orders, schedules and assigned reports.
