Job Title: Organizational Design Lead
Location: Hybrid – Mostly remote with occasional travel to Tennessee
Period: April 22, 2024 – Oct 31, 2024
Hours/Week: 40 hours
Rate: $120/hour based on experience


Scope of Services:

The Organizational Design Lead will spearhead an organizational design initiative, serving as a central figure in driving its success. The Lead will work closely with clients to assess their current organizational structures, processes, and culture, and develop a future state organizational structure / cost to support future business strategy / plans. They will conduct in-depth organizational assessments, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement. The Lead will collaborate closely with client stakeholders, particularly senior leadership, to understand their vision, mission, and business objectives, and develop the future state organizational structure (Departments / Roles) to meet their needs. Additionally, they will facilitate workshops, conduct assessments, and develop detailed organizational models to drive successful implementation and adoption of change initiatives.


Role, Responsibilities, and Deliverables:

  • Lead efforts to gather the overall vision, mission, and business plan/objectives of the organization.
  • Collect and analyze current state culture and values to inform the design process.
  • Develop design criteria, non-negotiables, and boundary conditions in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Gather industry best practices and benchmarks to inform organizational design decisions.
  • Analyze the external environment and industry standards to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Gather Level 1 and Level 2 process definitions and assess process suppliers, inputs, outputs, and customers.
  • Evaluate the level of current state technology and automation to identify areas for improvement.
  • Utilize current state metrics and ratios to assess organizational performance and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate discussions with senior leadership to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Create high-level organizing options and evaluate them against design criteria to select the best option.
  • Develop strategic organizational models that align with the company's long-term goals and objectives.
  • Identify department boundaries, jobs, roles, decision rights (RACI), integration and coordination points, and FTE requirements.
  • Develop detailed future organization designs and cost estimates to support implementation planning.
  • Conduct assessments of existing personnel to identify skill gaps and development opportunities.
  • Identify key stakeholders and engage them throughout the organizational design process.
  • Conduct individual and organization-wide change impact assessments to mitigate resistance and ensure successful implementation.
  • Develop comprehensive communication strategies and plans to ensure transparency and stakeholder engagement.
  • Create knowledge transfer plans to support the transition to the new organizational structure.
  • Develop post-implementation roadmaps and plans to monitor progress and adjust as needed.
  • Establish monitoring and support plans to address any challenges or issues that arise during the transition period.


Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in organizational design, change management, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of leading organizational transformation initiatives in complex environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
