Qualifications:
OPERATOR - WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY
Valid Driver's License
High School Diploma or Florida Department of Education GED
Valid State of Florida Class C Water Treatment and/or Wastewater Treatment Operator's License
Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting operational issues, monitor and make adjustments to achieve optimal plant performance, collect readings, collect samples, perform laboratory testing, maintain shift logs, entering data into database, perform and report equipment maintenance tasks, grounds keeping, and perform other duties as required.

Water: Controls treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption and for industrial use. Operates pumps and valves to regulate flow of raw groundwater into treatment plant. Monitors and feeds chemicals, such as sodium hypochlorite, hydrofluosilic acid and poly-orthophosphate to raw water for disinfection, public health and corrosion control. Pumps treated water into distribution system. Monitors SCADA system for alarms relating to chemical feed, system pressure and system controls. Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment, using hand- and power tools. Maintains project sites, equipment and vehicles in compliance with company appearance standards. Tests water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities, using colorimeter. Records data, such as residual content of chemicals, flows, equipment run time, and water pressure. Collects routine samples throughout distribution system per sampling plan and chemical monitoring plans.

Wastewater: Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage: Monitors control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage. Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings, and tests results to determine load requirements. Starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes. Maintains log of operations and records flow and hour meter readings. Performs routine operations and maintenance tasks including but not limited to repairs and lubrication of machines and equipment, using hand- and power tools. Collects raw/treated sewage samples using dipper or bottle and conducts laboratory testing, using testing equipment such as colorimeter, turbidimeter and pH meter. Collects sludge samples for process control and laboratory analysis. Performs all other duties as assigned.
