VDC MANAGER, DALLAS, TX

McGough Construction, an ENR Top 100 General Contractor specializing in Commercial Building, Manufacturing and Construction Management is currently seeking qualified candidates for the Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Manager position. The VDC Manager is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, management, and execution of VDC and BIM processes, tools and standard work for assigned projects. The VDC Manager may also be required to provide marketing and estimating support.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Masters of Science degree from accredited college/university focusing on Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or Data Science.
  • Minimum of 5 years VDC experience, including at least 3 years planning/managing the overall VDC scope of work for projects in Healthcare, Higher Ed and Semiconductor market sectors.
  • Displays solid VDC acumen.
  • Experience developing and executing BIM Execution Plans for projects.
  • Capacity to effectively manage and train both less experienced VDC staff and staff outside the VDC department on VDC tools and workflows.
  • Proficient in utilizing and instruction on the application of BIM and VDC processes and workflows at an advanced level.
  • Knowledgeable in creating new or advanced workflows for software/platforms like Revizto, Revit, Navisworks, Synchro Pro, Fuzor, reality capture platforms, and others.
  • Experience planning and budgeting VDC services for overall projects.
  • Experience identifying useful metrics and leveraging them to inform and improve VDC value on projects.
  • Self-motivated and efficient at working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Detail-oriented and able to efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously without direct supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving, mathematical and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of current construction delivery methods, practices, and documentation.
  • Ability to actively listen, mentally visualize and then produce detailed 2D, 3D, 4D or 5D deliverables for use by internal and external clients.
  • Strong desire to learn, apply and train new processes, technologies and methodologies that promote the use of VDC and a LEAN culture.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing projects in Revizto
  • Proficiency with reality capture equipment (360 cameras, drones, laser scanners) and software and processes to produce valuable deliverables from the data to both internal and external clients.
  • Ability to produce 4D/5D Phasing models and animations using Fuzor or similar software.
  • Experience creating and collaborating with virtual mockups.
  • Experience using Dynamo or similar programming tools to help automate workflows.

Office and Travel:

Mainly operates from the McGough office in Dallas, Texas. Must be prepared and capable of traveling to project sites. Some projects may require full or part-time onsite presence.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Overall planning, implementation, management, and execution of VDC and BIM processes, tools and standard work for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with internal project teams, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to develop and execute BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
  • Ensure that the intended VDC scope & BEP for each project accounts for all contract document requirements at a minimum, and gain clarification on any ambiguous language in the contract documents.
  • Collaborate closely with local office leadership and Director of VDC to maintain overall VDC department consistency while effectively supporting office marketing and project execution needs.
  • Provide VDC-related marketing support as needed.
  • Collaborate with Director of VDC on identifying, evaluating, and implementing tools which add value to current processes and eliminate waste.
  • Assist in development of business case documentation for new tool sand processes.
  • Actively promote the value of VDC with both internal and external customers.
  • Maintains pulse on industry & market trends to ensure that internal VDC capabilities remain competitive at a minimum within market.
  • Develop BIM Execution Plans for all projects utilizing VDC.
  • Develop VDC budgets to align with project needs.
  • Manage and lead the planning of VDC scope, schedule and budget for all assigned projects.
  • Internally market VDC and be recognized as the VDC subject matter expert.
  • Manage VDC staff planning, training and budgeting for this location and effectively coordinate needs for business planning efforts with office leadership and Director of VDC.
  • Assist with management and improvement of content libraries and protocols for maintaining them.
  • Assist project teams by utilizing BIM for visualization, constructability reviews and coordination.
  • Train project team members as needed on the access and use of VDC deliverables & BIM-related tools.
  • Actively track VDC lessons learned from projects assigned and associated metrics to support a LEAN approach to improvement.
  • Practice and support continuous improvement in VDC and throughout company processes.
  • Work on projects outside of regional office as needed.

Occasionally, employee will be required to visit construction jobsites which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
