Overview

The Exceptions Items Administrator will be responsible for daily processing of Stop Payment Returned Items. The Exceptions Items Administrator will finalize the updating of Exceptions, Stop Payments, Overdrafts and Misc Returns of daily returned ACH and Checks.

Responsibilities
    Review the stop payment maintenance to check for any stop pays that may have been deleted from the system to ensure items are not marked for return
  • Review stop hit and stop pay journals and correctly return all stop pays and hits
  • Return all insufficient items from the return items report
  • Process daily miscellaneous returns that are sent in through Treasury, Recon and Fraud Departments
  • Complete other daily reports outside of Stop Payment / Overdraft reports
  • Communicate effectively with retail partners to ensure Overdraft, Stop Payment and other issues are being handled efficiently
  • Balance Returns to Fed and Bank daily by communicating with FIS Data Center and Check 21 Returns Administrator
  • Complete daily balancing spreadsheet and reconcile all return items and entries at the end of the day
  • Enter daily GL batch entries for NSF/Nonpost to clear corresponding GL accounts
  • Process large dollar notification to EARNS daily
  • Cross-train on other functions within the department
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of job related experience
  • Good knowledge of bank operations, policies and procedures
  • Good understanding of the return item process
  • Ability to communicate and deal professionally with branch personnel
  • Must be a motivated self-starter who can resolve problems with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to understand complicated instructions and carry out those instructions with minimal assistance
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adjust to flexible working hours
