The base salary range for a Sr. Data Compliance & Privacy Specialist is $65.900 to $118.600. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

Sr Data Compliance and Privacy Specialist - Overview

This position works in close partnership with the Information Technology (IT) team to strengthen data governance and enforce legal data compliance.

Essential Duties

  • Partners with IT to perform complex analysis and report on data retention, data governance and privacy practices across multiple databases; identifies gaps and recommends changes as needed to ensure compliance with data privacy and protection regulations
  • Partners with IT and Operations to assist in the provision of legal response and proper recordkeeping in the event of data privacy and security incidents
  • Partners with IT to provide compliant responses to privacy-related inquiries and requests from internal and external stakeholders
  • Creates privacy and security communications to be presented organization wide
  • Analyzes SAAS contracts to map out the flow of data from USAble to vendors, sub-processors and subcontractors
  • Work within legal and in direct coordination with the Compliance Counsel to identify and develop data driven Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Partners with IT and other stakeholders to identify data sources upon which KPIs can be measured in order to monitor the overall compliance of the organization. Develop procedures to extract data from these sources as necessary.
  • Partners with IT on all privacy and security policy and procedure reviews and updates

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations, cybersecurity and IT risk management concepts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to isolate and analyze privacy and IT security terms in larger vendor and SAAS contracts
  • Ability to develop, deploy and manage meaningful KPIs and performance measures
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders
  • Ability to identify and resolves problems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect privacy

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Science and Management or related field - related experience can substitute
  • 5+ years of related experience including data privacy and retention, information security and/or data incident management
  • Or, equivalent military experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Information Science and Management or related field
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification
  • Certified KPI Professional
  • Experience in KPI drafting and systems reporting
