Position Description:
We are searching for a Sr. Director Corporate Communications. The Senior Director of Corporate Communications is responsible for executing the bank's strategy for business-to-business communications with the objective of maintaining the bank's reputation, enhancing business strategies, and building bank culture. A primary focus of this position is on the communication of financial information to non-financial audiences. This position also leads a department of communications professionals in its support of communications targeted at external stakeholders, comprised of the bank's owner-associations, Farm Credit System partners, trading partners, rating agencies, investors, and the bank's regulator (Farm Credit Administration), and internal stakeholders comprised of bank le adership and employees.

Day-to Day-Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position leads the Corporate Communications department which is responsible for producing communications which support the bank's mission as a funding bank. Critical "core deliverables" include the bank's annual and quarterly financial reports and press releases, board of director publications, event and meeting communications, registration websites and apps, the bank's internet and intranet sites, the bank's brand strategy, and requested business-to-business marketing and communication deliverables.
The Senior Director is responsible for managing members of the Corporate Communications department who support the core deliverables and provide substantive support to the bank's credit, finance, technology, and human resources departments. The Senior Director ensures close coordination between indiv idual communicators and bank leadership to promote a unifying and consistent narrative within the bank and among key stakeholders.
The Senior Director is responsible for developing, writing, and editing compelling and informative content that resonates as the voice of the business to its key stakeholders. This individual will engage closely with bank leadership and must be able to digest and understand the complex funding bank, finance, credit, and technology functions of the bank's business model and be capable of clearly and persuasively articulating key themes and insights through narratives that are easily understood by a non-technical stakeholder audience.
As the department leader, the Senior Director develops and manages an operating budget, develops and maintains appropriate policies and procedures, manages vendor relationships, represents the bank to public audiences and periodically reports to the board of directors and executive management.

It is an important role that covers many skills. This position requires:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, English, corporate communications, business, finance, or a related field plus a minimum of ten (10) years in corporate communications and a minimum of five (5) years in a managerial role. A strong finance background, effective leadership abilities and excellent writing skills are required. Experience in investor relations and/or working in the commercial or wholesale banking, financial services, capital markets, finance or agriculture industries is strongly preferred.
This position requires critical thinking, solid comprehension of financial reports and business concepts and int ellectual curiosity to learn and master the bank's business model. The role also requires a strategic thinker who can align with bank leadership, develop, and oversee the implementation of the bank's communications strategy, and adjust priorities as needed.
Impeccable writing and editing skills and the ability to adapt to various communications channels, styles, and audiences, are essential to this position. Must be experienced in writing business-to-business content for newsletters, press releases, annual reports, and similar publications.
As the lead of the Corporate Communications department, this position requires solid project management skills. Solid management experience is required, including conflict resolution skills and ability to productively direct writers, brand managers and digital/website professionals in the development, design, production, and distribution of written and digital content.
Strong interpersonal communication skills are required, as demonstrated by the ability to establish credibility quickly across the organization. Must maintain executive presence and ability to interact with senior executives and the Board of Directors.
