Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach

Stephens College is seeking an individual for the position of assistant volleyball coach. This is a part time,10-month stipend position that is approximately 15-20 hours per week during the season and 10-15 hours per week during the offseason.


Reports To: Director of Athletics & Head Volleyball Coach


Volleyball Responsibilities:

  1. Help head volleyball coach in administering all aspects of the volleyball program, including but not limited to: designing and conducting practice in accordance with the NAIA’s 24-week rule, preparing for competition, arranging transportation and meals, maintaining inventory of uniforms and equipment, monitoring academic progress, collaborating with other assistants (volunteer or student)
  2. Provide fundamental and advanced instruction of volleyball skills, conditioning, and philosophy.
  3. Assist the head volleyball coach in actively recruiting qualified student-athletes who have an interest in one of the College’s academic programs; appropriately communicate prospective student-athlete information to Admissions and Financial Aid; recruitment and retention of student-athletes are both key aspects of the position.
  4. Help cultivate and maintain relationships with student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, club/high school/junior college coaches, media, and parents.
  5. Mentor student-athletes with regards to life skills and preparation for life after their sport and college
  6. Represent Stephens College in a manner compliant and consistent with its ideals, the American Midwest Conference, and the NAIA Champions of Character program.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed inside under normal office conditions and the employee may be exposed to varying temperatures and dust.
  • Reaching/handling up to 25 lbs.
  • Climbing/balancing body weight.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Evidence of successful playing or coaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
  • Working knowledge and application of NAIA rules and regulations
  • Strong skills in communication, organization, multi-tasking, efficiency, and customer service.
  • Ability to work with a diverse constituency including students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff, administrators, and outside contacts.
  • Must meet and maintain Stephens Driver Qualification and Vehicle Safety Policy.
  • A supportive interest in the mission of the College.
