Job Summary

At Susanna Wesley, our Assistant Group Leaders exemplify humility in relationships, an eagerness for learning, and a thoughtful approach to their duties. They play a crucial role in our programs aimed at elementary school-age children, including Before and After School Care, School Days Out, and Summer Camp. With their relevant experience and growing knowledge of child and youth development, the Assistant Group Leaders assist in effectively implementing programs and fostering supportive relationships with children and families. They create a safe, nurturing environment infused with God’s love and the church’s values.

Qualifications

  • At least 16 years old with some relevant experience.
  • Displays humility and respect in interactions.
  • Desires to deepen understanding of child and youth development.
  • Competent in assisting with planning and implementing group activities.
  • Experience in fostering positive relationships with children and families.
  • Willing to become First Aid, CPR, and Safe Gatherings certified.
  • (Preferred) Knowledge of licensing regulations governing school-age programs.
  • (Preferred) Relationship with Jesus Christ.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing the safety and well-being of children and youth in the group, supporting the Group Leader in supervision and guidance.
  • Help to develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that stimulate learning and social interaction.
  • Learn from and support the Group Leader, contributing to the team's effectiveness.
  • Always ensure strict adherence to licensing regulations and church policies.
  • Assist in maintaining open communication with parents and guardians, helping to provide regular updates on their children's progress, and addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Participate actively in professional development opportunities to continually enhance skills and knowledge.
