Job Summary:

As a Snowmaking Team lead you will be working long hours in a fast paced high risk job. You should possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable having difficult conversations. You will be responsible for accomplishing department objectives, training, organizing and motivating staff of different skill levels. You will monitor and evaluate performance of staff which includes coaching, counseling and discipline. You should be able to recognize skill and ability of your staff and delegate appropriately. You will possess extensive knowledge of the complete snowmaking process. Safety is Paramount! Acute personal awareness, prudent judgement, physical fitness, coordination and fortitude are characteristics snowmakers should possess. You will be exposed to variable weather and surface conditions in a high alpine environment. During a typical shift you will walk, ski or board, ride chair lifts, drive trucks, snowmobiles or be transported by snow cat to set up and operate snowmaking equipment. You will work closely with other Mountain Operations departments: Grooming, Race, Ski Patrol, Lift Maintenance, Fleet maintenance, Lift Operations. This is a year round Snowmaking position with a switch to equipment maintenance and pipe replacement after the snowmaking season ends.  This is a very complex position and requires intense commitment and a diverse skill set. This important role is critical to getting the ski season up and running.

Job Specifications:

  • Expected Pay Range: $23.00 - $25.99 / hour
  • Shift & Schedule Availability:  Full Time, Year Round
    • 7:00AM - 5:00PM (Feb - Sept) : 4 days / week
    • 11:00AM - 11:00PM or 11:00PM - 11:00AM (Oct - Jan): 3 - 4 days / week
  • Skill Level: Advanced  

 

Job Requirements:

  • Adhere to all snowmaking policies, safety guidelines and best practice procedures at all times. 
  • Operate all transportation vehicles as per the standard operating procedures. 
  • Works with Manager and the department in all aspects of machine made snow. 
  • Assist other departments as needed for high quality guest service experience and customer satisfaction. 
  • Must be able to understand the operations of pumps, compressors and how water and air moves across the mountain.
  • Maintain snowmaking equipment and buildings as directed. 
  • Must be able to set up/tear down snowmaking equipment in a safe and efficient manner on any trail that has snowmaking on it. 
  • Must be able to operate all snowmaking equipment, (i.e fan guns, air/water guns) 
  • Fulfilling day to day work responsibilities for the organization as needed and exhibits the highest level of expertise in all areas. 
  • May also supervise summer construction/maintenance projects. 
  • Assist with capital project development.  
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess valid Driver’s license and acceptable MVR (driving record)
  • Must adhere to Beaver Creek’s policies (conduct, ethics, grooming, safety)
  • Must possess at least 2 years snowmaking experience

 

The expected pay range is $23.00 - $25.99. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
