Job Description

The YMCA is hiring Inclusive Program Staff to provide direct supervision and support to children and adults with special needs across various youth programs and events. Our Inclusive Program Staff cultivate positive and nurturing relationships with participants while fostering collaborative connections with their parents and caregivers. You will actively promote and encourage the development and potential of all program participants, facilitating meaningful peer-to-peer interactions as an integral part of the overall program experience.

Inclusive Program Staff:

  • Assists in planning and implementing program activities tailored to participants with special needs, ensuring they are inclusive, developmentally appropriate, engaging, and aligned with the organization's values.
  • Opens and prepares activity assignments according to specific instructions, considering the unique requirements of the participants.
  • Ensures timely start and adherence to schedule for program activities.
  • Supervises participants in activities, fostering a positive and safe learning environment conducive to learning new skills and techniques tailored to their abilities.
  • Facilitates inclusive practices by teaching participants to support and encourage one another, fostering a sense of teamwork and unity within the group.
  • Maintains visibility and availability to address questions or concerns from participants, parents, and caregivers as needed.
  • Monitors participants to ensure they remain within designated program areas, preventing wandering into other parts of the facility.
  • Acts as a mentor and positive role model for participants with special needs, demonstrating inclusive behavior and promoting social interaction.
  • Ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Distributes Information Packets and other relevant materials to participants on a regular basis.
  • Documents and reports any incidents or injuries occurring during programming involving participants to the Sports Coordinator.
  • Abides by all established policies and procedures outlined in training, with a focus on accommodating and supporting the diverse needs of participants with special needs.

Pay & Benefits:

  • $13.57/hour
  • Part-time employees begin accruing Sick Leave immediately upon hire and Paid Time Off (PTO) after one year of employment
  • All employees receive a free YMCA membership!
