Operations Manager, Insteel Engineered Products - Mount Airy, NC

About You
The person we are looking for has a strong foundation in project management and structural/architectural/civil engineering. A person with great judgment, initiative, and the ability to deal with complex factors. The ideal candidate is a leader who thrives while working in a professional, yet casual, work environment.

Position Snapshot
The Operations Manager leads the project management activities and supervises the activities of the project management team. This person is a key member of the Insteel Engineered Products (IEP) leadership team and will have multiple direct reports. To be successful in this role you will:
  • Assign all awarded projects (project manager and detailing – in-house or third party)
  • Oversee project timelines, project completion and deliverables and communicate status updates to upper management.
  • Identifies technical and cost risks for projects and implements risk abatement plans to minimize their impact.
  • Develop budget for projects and tracks budget adherence.
  • Work with team members to reduce the completion time for projects.
  • Organize and maintain documentation and communications related to product manufacturing.
  • Implement IEP standards to improve workflow.
  • Use creative thinking to improve customer service at all levels and create initiatives that will further the company’s goals.
  • Approve or reject all RMA’s which may be subject to further workflow approvals.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and scheduling to ensure product and machine time availability.
  • Monitor staffing needs and adjust as needed with input from upper management.
  • Develop employees and promote career advancement using individual development plans as a tool.
  • Fosters and promotes a team environment.
  •  Manages third party detailing relationship.
Qualifications to be considered for the role:
  • Extensive professional, technical or administrative training (bachelor’s degree/Civil Engineer/Structural); broad knowledge of general Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of estimating, or project management experience in structural products is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
