Day to day as a Medication AideAs a Medication Aide at Brookstone Assisted Living, you will be responsible for assisting residents with their medication needs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in administration. Your day-to-day tasks will include dispensing medications, documenting administration, and communicating any changes in residents' conditions to the nursing team promptly. You will also provide vital support to residents, offering comfort and assistance as needed. Would you be a great Medication Aide?To excel as a Medication Aide at Brookstone Assisted Living, you must possess strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in medication administration, observation for drug reactions, and recording procedures is essential. A high school diploma and at least two years of nurse aide certification are required, with a preference for Medication Aide certification. Demonstrated experience in specialized materials production, proofreading, and successful completion of a medication assistant certification course are highly valued. Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
Essential Functions
Assistant with the dispensing of oral inhalation and topical medications to patients under direct supervision of a licensed nurse unless otherwise allowed by state law.
Observe patients for drug reactions and report any problems to the nurses.
Performing tasks associated with medication administration including patient vital signs and stocking the medication cart.
Recording medication administration according to agency procedure
Assists the nurse in providing care to clients which includes observation and reporting of client needs
Recognizes and performs tasks according to level of education and training
Accepts responsibility and accountability for own performance according to state laws and regulations.
Performs tasks safely and effectively to assure client comfort and welfare
Respects client rights
Protects confidential client information unless otherwise required to promote client safety and welfare
Follows federal, state, and agency regulations to protect own health and that of others
Seeks guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma.
At least two years of holding a nurse aide certification
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

4. Successful completion of facility medication assistant certification course.
