All CATS students will learn the HVAC business in a classroom and lab environment. All students will work in all departments under the supervision of an assigned mentor.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Participants are full time employees and rotate to each department while in the CATS program to gain experience in each line of business.
  • Attends all mandatory safety meetings.
  • Completes daily time card accurately.
  • Maintains valid vehicle insurance and driver’s license at all times.
  • Required to drive your personal vehicle to job sites when necessary.
  • Reports any moving violations to HR Manager immediately.
  • Accountable for company and personal tools.
  • Assists in other departments during slow periods when required.
  • Adheres to all company policies.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.

 

Classroom Expectations

  • Classes are held from September through May, Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Participate in classroom and lab activities.
  • Maintain a 75% score on all quizzes and tests.
  • Arrives to the class/job site on time each day.
  • Has the ability to follow instructions and ask questions of the trainer or mentor.
  • Be a professional and use appropriate language at all times.
  • Have a “can-do” attitude towards learning the HVAC trade.
  • Be a team player.
  • Required to sign the Student Tuition Agreement.

 

Qualifications

  • Computer Skills: Computer/typing/keyboarding/data entry proficiency, internet and email.
  • Required Education: High School Diploma/GED. Trade School a plus.
  • Experience: No experience necessary but mechanical knowledge is a plus.
  • Hours of Work: Full time employees will be scheduled for 40 hours per week and hours may vary based on the department in which you are working. You may be required to work overtime.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, squat/kneel, twist/turn, climb, crouch, reach, bend, talk, hear, and listen. The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands, feet and fingers to handle or feel objects. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 100 pounds with assistance. This job also requires the employee to work at various heights, elevations and confined spaces. The employee must be able to climb ladders of all heights and to work in all types and sizes of residential homes and commercial buildings. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals based on the condition at job locations.  This position will require working in extreme heat and cold climates.
