About The Position

The Surveying Technician I will be a vital member of the Surveying Team and will help gather preliminary information for field surveys and assist with fieldwork calculations. This position includes both office and field duties and is a full-time, entry-level position, based out of our Fallon office.

  • Provides assistance to execute field and office work for topographic surveys, locating evidence of boundaries, construction surveys and any other duties that may be associated with the project.
  • Sets up, adjusts and operates equipment used at surveying job sites.
  • Measures, records, and calculates data based on readings from instruments.
  • Lays out and recovers markings, stakes, and other such signifiers at job sites.
  • Conducts initial basic research of record title information, and project control, and reviews construction documents and plans.
  • Completes basic research, reviews, and compiles deeds, easements, and other documents as directed.
  • Maintains field and office equipment.
  • Takes inventory and maintains equipment for use by the survey party, including vehicles, electronics, and field supplies.
  • Keeps adequate survey supplies stocked in the survey truck.
  • Performs basic calculations used in the field.
  • Acts as a field representative of the company, which includes professional knowledge of the trade, appearance, and attitude.
  • Works in collaboration with other members of the survey team, taking direction from the lead surveyor.
  • Performs work in a safe manner. Reports any safety concerns to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a strong background in mathematics; Third- or fourth-year college student enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with an emphasis in surveying or related field; or combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA10 and MSHA30 certifications within 3 months of hire date.
  • Basic grammar, spelling, and mathematical functions such as addition and subtraction.
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Attentive to details; ability to produce neat legible field notes.
  • Ability to work hours necessary to complete work within required time frames with regard to deadlines.
  • Ability to travel domestically and work away from home as needed based on the project's needs, up to five days per week.
  • Ability to carry equipment up and down steep terrain; Walk, stand, crouch, or run on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Work is regularly performed for sustained periods outdoors in hot, cold, or inclement weather.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 40 pounds; occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record with 3 or less demerit points.

Pay Transparency Statement

The compensation range reflects the Company's reasonable expectation at the time of posting. We consider a number of factors when making individual compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, and other business needs.

Nevada hourly pay range
$21—$24 USD
