Mission Operations Directorate (MOD) is the single National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) entity that operate all NRO systems to deliver intelligence value to national decision makers, the Intelligence Community, and warfighters. As a member of the Current Operations Division at ADF-C, on the watch floor on an operations crewmember on shift, you will serve as an expert technician, responsible for complex, difficult, strategic assignments in a given area of responsibility. This work requires providing professional, technical data analysis in the area of expertise and coordinating projects undertaken with other organizations. Advises higher-level officials and groups working on specific problems related to the area of responsibility.

What You Will Be Doing  

Applicant must have direct applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.  
  • Serves as a technical data analyst for an assigned intelligence function or process. Gathers, compiles, and interprets pertinent data using various collection techniques and from various sources and formats.
  • Conducts data analysis, draws conclusions and estimated probability using knowledge of current and past situations, and understanding of the significance of conditions and trends in the area of specialization.  Identifies trends and changes in the subject matter field. Accurately interprets study results.
  • Presents findings and recommendations to superiors and policy makers.
  • On an as needed basis, maintains continuous work-wide situational awareness with real-time tip-offs to senior Operations Controllers for high interest events. Collaborates with multi-discipline analysts across the community and shares situational awareness information harvested from these on line collaborative environments.  
  • Advise senior NRO leaders on significant and critical factors to refine the NRO mission, operational commitments, and capabilities; assist in preparing talking papers; and other summary information to update key staff on the status and capability of commitments.
  • Provide updates and presentations to NRO senior leadership on the analysis of areas of improvement to the mission; and administrative and crisis support to the NROC as necessary.
  • Provide situational awareness briefings to NRO Seniors during crises, and in support of NRO yearly readiness exercises.
  • Support team excellence by identifying, obtaining, evaluating, and combining various data sources, thereby improving how the office describes the magnitude and impact of findings in audits, inspections, and investigations.
  • Build data models, tools, and appropriate data visualizations and/or dashboards to tell the data story and clearly articulate results to key decision makers.
  • Communicate various forms of data through analysis at all levels.
What You Need 
  • Seeks or collects and synthesizes information from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective, unbiased manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgement, and to enable strategic and leadership decision making.
  • Keeps managers aware of the status of projects being managed, including timeframes and document requirements, and key operational issues through formal and informal communications
  • Recommends changes to forms, documents, procedures, policies that will increase the effectiveness of the project area.
  • Ensures information is complete and accurate and follows up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled.
  • Teamwork - Develops and uses collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals. Identifies opportunities and takes action to build strategic relationships between work units, Directorates and other groups (both internal and external).
Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform  and is typically in or directly related to the duties of the position as described above. Experience must be reflected in your resume. 

Rotational Assignment

This position requires a three-year rotational assignment agreement with possible extensions of two-years. Approved extensions will be in one-year increments based on mission requirements. At the conclusion of the rotational assignment, the position’s occupant will be required to relocate to NRO Headquarters, Chantilly, VA or another acceptable assignment within the NRO.

Other Information
  • Overtime Statement:  MAY be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Travel Statement:  MAY be required to travel in military or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Financial Disclosure:  MAY be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
  • Mobility Statement: Mobility is a condition of employment.

Salary

2024 salary range for the Aurora, CO area:

GG-11 $80,665 - $104,861. 

GG-12 $96,684 - $125,685. 

**This position is a Full Performance level DCIPS position. The NRO is accepting applications from U.S. Citizens and current federal government employees for this position.  To qualify for the position, federal government employees MUST currently be at the GG – 11/12 grade level and may ONLY apply for a lateral reassignment at their current grade level and step. Federal applicants who exceed the advertised grade may voluntarily request acceptance at the lower grade per IAW DoD 1400.25 Volume 2006.

Hiring Incentives

The NRO may offer hiring incentives and other entitlements at management’s discretion.

Trial Period

All new DCIPS employees will be required to serve a 2-year trial period.
