POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Breeding Specialist to perform daily production tasks involved in the breeding process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Specifically, the Breeding Specialist is responsible for the following activities:

Production/Production Scheduling:

  • Conduct artificial breeding, as directed
  • Perform daily heat checks on animals and check bred groups for recycles
  • Perform routine and seasonal vaccinations, as directed
  • Assist with monthly inventory counts
  • Perform general feed maintenance on bred and open animals
  • Ensure a proper animal environment, including but not limited to ventilation, water, and feed
  • Ensure a clean animal housing environment
  • Assist in power washing, as assigned
  • Ensure that SFI training program requirements and procedures are being met and followed
  • Maintain and follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures
  • Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc.
  • Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs with reasonable accommodation.

Documentation

  • Assist in maintaining all sow breeding records and documentation on sow removal records, transactions, and treatment records
  • Maintain PQA certification status
