Department Summary

The Customer Retention Department is unique in that it has elements of marketing, operations, strategy, and analytics. The department is highly visible with the Executive Leadership team and drives multiple strategic initiatives focused on retaining and monetizing DISH’s existing customer base.

  • Analytics:   We never stop learning about our customers and our business. Our analytical prowess creates wins for both customers and Dish.

  • Marketing:  We create and manage all existing customer communications (web, email, print, television commercials and video elements). 

  • Strategic Partnerships:  Our team partners with television networks, producers and celebrity talents to create large scale marketing campaigns that make DISH more valuable to our customers.

  • Operations and Project Management: Everyone in our group is hands on when it’s time to operationalize our ideas. We work cross-functionally with business partners from all areas of DISH to implement new initiatives and strategies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Our team focuses on using advanced analytics and technical expertise to drive unique strategies that monetize and retain DISH customers. Our analysts have a huge impact on the performance of the broader business as internal consultants to the organizational strategy. Here’s what you can do with DISH:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the strategy and operations for a Value-Added-Service (VAS) product that yields hundreds of millions in revenue each year
  • Develop and drive initiatives with a project management mindset to maximize revenue and CLV for the product (data gathering, analysis, recommendation, implementation, performance reporting)
  • Develop and report forecasts and budgets for product subscriber counts and product revenue
  • Measure product subscriber take rates, churn, and lifetime value to identify key opportunities and risks
  • Lead strategic partnerships with 3rd party organizations to build and maintain relationships in a way that maximizes consumer demand while minimizing cost profile
  • Analyze the current market and competitive landscape to assess products and future opportunities
  • Work in a highly visible role that provides sound recommendations to company executives, including the business unit President
  • Partner cross-functionally across departments to gain alignment and prioritization on strategic initiatives
  • Think creatively, be proactive, and take ownership to develop and implement strategies that drive revenue, drive cash flow, and reduce subscriber churn for DISH
  • Become an expert in the DISH business, using creativity and business understanding to generate new and creative reporting, and put unique ideas into practice

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (4-year) in finance, analytics, data science, or a related field with an interest that demonstrates logical thinking
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field is a plus (Business, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics)
  • 1-3 years experience in a data-driven analytics or strategy role

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience building models, forecasts, budgets and dynamic reports with SQL, Tableau and Excel that provide meaningful direction and insight
  • Strong quantitative skills, with demonstrated success working with large datasets; capable of driving actionable recommendations
  • Experience preparing and delivering presentations tailored for a specific audience
  • Strength in written and verbal communication; interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Excellent project management and time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $72,350.00/Year - $103,400.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
