POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide leadership and direction to tax analysts on complex indirect tax processes and related activities in a timely and accurate manner including resolving escalated issues with tax authorities and customers. Develop and lead project-based indirect tax transformational and integration initiatives for business activities interfacing with business partners, including Sales and IT leaders, throughout the organization, government authorities, vendors, and customers with minimal supervision and in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and lead project-based indirect tax transformational and integration initiatives for business activities interfacing with business partners, including Sales and IT leaders, government authorities, vendors, and customers with minimal supervision and in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies.

• Research, analyze and address a variety of complex tax issues such as new transaction taxes, markets, business lines, entities and nexus and design and implement solutions using discretion and independent judgment to ensure proper tax handling of transactions following strict deadlines and service levels.

• Ensure adherence to department goals/metrics, Internal Audit reports and SLAs.

• Regularly lead key stakeholder meetings to discuss open risks and develop action plans to resolve.

• Develop an in-depth knowledge of the Company and its industry to understand product mix, customer types and business operations in responding to tax inquiries regarding taxability of products and services, tax exemptions, etc. and identifying value-add service opportunities.

• Lead process improvements for efficiencies and risk mitigation while adhering to controls and policies and working with process owners to streamline end-to-end processes.

• Collaborate and problem-solve cross-functionally with the Tax Team, senior leadership, external advisors, government authorities, customers, and other key stakeholders to communicate clear, consistent, and comprehensive tax guidance for quality and timely direction.

• Conduct training sessions with Company finance, operations, and other personnel on indirect tax matters.

• Facilitate systemic improvements to the Company's tax compliance and exam processes through best practices in the industry and utilizing new technology and/ or maximizing existing technology.

• Support Tax Managers in training, mentoring, coaching and development of team members and overall team management.

• Propose and implement indirect tax planning opportunities.

• Complete special projects as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and sales tax experience

• 6+ years' progressive, related sales tax experience and 2 years' supervisory experience in leading team members

• Highly proficient in spreadsheet applications, including Microsoft Excel; ability to perform higher level functions within Excel including pivot tables, v-lookups and analyze complex information

Preferred Qualifications:

• Accounting/Finance degree

• IPT CMI (Institute for Professionals in Taxation)

• Experience or proficiency with Vertex or other transaction tax calculation systems
