Four Roses Bourbon is seeking candidates for the role of Warehouse Supervisor. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day production requirements including the safety, quality, and performance results across the barrel warehousing department. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the activities and processes involved in the barreling of distillate, movement, and storage of unaged and aged product. Warehouse Supervisor responsibilities include managing in a collective bargaining environment, maintaining a safe, orderly, and efficient work environment, ensuring product quality, and supporting organizational goals and objectives. This position conducts job duties in a manner that demonstrates a strong food safety culture which ensures the safety and quality of our products. The Warehouse Supervisor reports directly to the Senior Manager, Warehouse. The work schedule is typically, Monday - Friday 6:30a - 3:30p with expected flexibility based on business need.


Essential Functions


Major Responsibilities 90%


Mission and Strategic Growth


  • Develop initiatives to achieve performance, quality, and safety standards and ensure achievement of manufacturing goals.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the department including the training and development of the team members.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with other department team members to ensure daily production demands are met, achieve KPI’s and correct issues as they arise.
  • Implement continuous improvement actions to close gaps of KPI’s or increase productivity as needed. Lead and/or participate in Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) to solve problems by attempting to identify and correct the root causes of events, as opposed to simply addressing their symptoms.
  • Provide information for and adhere to annual departmental operating budget.
  • Communicate and address any deficiencies that affect Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Monitor barrel liquid availability by supervising team members responsible for checking and repairing leaking barrels.
  • Drive the development of an empowered and self-directed department.


Warehouse Operations


  • Work with Senior WHS Manager and Director of WHS for planning and forecast barrel storage, used barrel sales as well as bulk inventories and bulk shipments.
  • Lead and engage with WHS team in daily meetings to cover safety, production, and all other company communications.
  • Ensure safety procedures are always followed. Conduct safety stand downs and ensure adherence to company, DOT, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Maintain clear communication between warehouse crews, and other departmental personnel interfacing with the warehouse team.
  • Supervise a team of hourly team members in a way that complies with Union contract ways of working while engaging the team in department accountabilities and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Schedules daily work operations and regulates manpower to meet production entry, barrel dumping, bulk shipping, sampling requirements and yards & grounds.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and training as appropriate to develop team capabilities, improve performance and/or onboard new team members.
  • Manage bulk storage in tanks and maintain accurate records.
  • Implement special projects.
  • Oversee char collections and shipments.


Warehouse Documents


  • Collaborate with WHS Coordinator to ensure all administrative tasks are completed on time and accurately.
  • Maintain inventory tracking for Slurry Tanks, accurately capturing all product movement including losses or gains.
  • Create and Maintain Standard Operating Procedures as required.
  • Understand required information to be printed on barrel head at time of filling: producing company plus barreling location and their respective DSP numbers, government and company ID's, barrel capacity, and product type identification.
  • Verify barrel locations & barrel filled quantities listed on daily racking reports provided by crew leaders.
  • Verify Used Barrel shipment documents for accuracy.
  • Keep current on all DOT regulations for transportation–including bill-of-lading information, flammable placarding of transportation vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate food safety documentation as it pertains to Warehouse operations.
  • Inventory Management System
  • Ensure all barrels are accurately recorded using warehouse management system.
  • Verify all new barrel storage has been correctly entered into warehouse inventory management system.
  • Verify reports in warehouse management systems for month end closing have been completed accurately.
  • Verify monthly tank inventory reports.
  • Manage barrel inventories as needed, as well as a minimum 50%-barrel inventory during the distillery shutdown.


Distillate Shipments


  • Collaborate with Distillery Supervisor weekly to verify distillate shipment schedule.


Maintenance


  • Collaborate with maintenance supervisor weekly to plan PM request and to compile a list of projects for continued efficient operations.
  • Enters work orders into maintenance portal in a timely manner. Follows up with maintenance dept on completion.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of warehouse tour route within the bulk building dump floor.


Financial & Budget


  • Collaborate with Senior Manager and Director to manage departmental budgets and spending with an emphasis on Quality and Value to the consumer and Profitability and Efficiency to the department.


Quality


  • Ensure daily, timely delivery of distillate and aged product samples to quality lab.
  • Set up and monitor yearly calibration check on metering equipment used for loading out bulk shipments.
  • Understands quality standards, looks for continuous quality improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with all GMP, and food safety standards related to the warehouse department.


Human Resources and Training


  • Supervise manpower as required to efficiently execute operating schedule for the warehouse department.
  • Monitor and evaluate team member performance, apply disciplinary procedures as necessary.
  • Administrate Union Contract & Handbook.
  • Coordinate and implement warehouse team training and oversee cross training of the warehouse team.
  • Approves and submits payroll each Monday by 10am. Completes payroll paperwork necessary for weekly pay approval.


Plant Safety


  • Foster and deliver a “Safety First, Culture” approach in all areas of Warehousing.
  • Ensure all team members are following prescribed PPE safety requirements for their assigned work area.
  • Immediately report and properly document any safety items related to you or any departmental team members. Safety items to be reported include but are not limited to bodily injury, near misses, potential dangers, spills and/or any other accidents.
  • This position shall be required to address all safety related items in their department and lead any discussions surrounding safety.
  • Monitor and inspect warehouse areas for safety compliance.
  • Maintain warehouse safety programs (confined space, lock-out/tag out, emergency notification, MSDS, monthly self-inspection meetings.)


Risk Management and Compliance


  • Manage completion of Government required paperwork (in-comping distillate documents/outgoing bulk shipments.)
  • Manage warehouse safety programs, OSHA confined space, LOTO, emergency response, SDS, etc.)
  • Engage in warehouse safety compliance, & safety meetings.
  • Maintain knowledge of DOT regulations for transport and handling of hazardous materials – includes BOL.
  • Maintain knowledge of EPA rules and regulations


Qualifications


Required Education and Experience


  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Associate degree in business management or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in warehouse environment
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations is required.
  • Experience with budgets and proven ability to maintain a cost efficient and effective operation.
  • Proficient computer literacy with ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; must have ability to adapt to barrel management software.
  • Knowledge of TTB regulations and record retention for: In-bond receipts; barreling operations; production entry; in-bond barrel withdrawal: shipment - domestic and export; bulk shipment – domestic and export, barrel consolidation – export shipment; Removal of casualty barrels form inventory


Education and Experience Preferred


  • Experience managing within a union environment.
  • Experience in barrel warehouse storage.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Experience in end of month (EOM) inventory and tank records
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field.


Job Related Information


Supervisory Responsibility

The Warehouse Supervisor will manage all union warehouse team members and all contract team members assigned to warehouse operation.
