Salary:

Teche Action Clinic, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Dentist Position in Franklin, Louisiana.


JOB SUMMARY:

Examining, diagnosing, developing treatment plans and treating diseases, infections, malformations and injuries of the teeth and mouth. Carrying out the treatment plan in a competent and efficient manner is expected while performing the following duties.


  JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate patients’ intraoral & peri-oral hard and soft tissue condition; including caries, endodontic/periodontal pathology, soft tissue and developmental pathology.
  • Examines patient to determine nature of condition
  • Diagnose and treat Emergency Dental situations
  • Develop patient treatment plans for Adult and Pediatric patients; including Preventative, endodontic, Periodontal, Restorative, Prosthetic and follow up care.
  • Refer out complex Endodontic, Surgical and Periodontal treatment. Perform and complete the remaining portion of treatment plan.
  • Cleans teeth and provides preventive dental services to patient such as application of fluoride and sealants to teeth.
  • Restores injured and decayed teeth.
  • Educates patient on oral and dental hygiene.
  • Diagnoses accurately patient’s dental conditions considering total patient care.
  • Develops comprehensive treatment plans for quality patient care.
  • Provides patient services with clinical competence and caring communication.
  • Completes education programs for personal expertise in clinical skills and practice management.
  • Teaches methods for maintaining dental health to patients and to groups in the community.
  • Assists in development and implementation of community oral healthcare and education programs.
  • Attend dental provider meetings and participate in case study discussions
  • Provide professional consultation to other staff dentists when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dental Director/Practice Manager
  • Experience with Electronic Dental Records and digital radiography required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees chair-side Dental Assistant
  • Supervisory duties as delegated by the Dental Director.



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Experience: DDS or DMD degree from a nationally accredited Dental School. Valid DEA and CDS.
  • Communication Ability: Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registration: Current license to practice Dentistry in the State of Louisiana, Current DEA number, Current Louisiana Controlled Dangerous Substance License.
  • Reasoning Ability: Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making to achieve organizational objectives.  Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action.  Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting, and coordinating clinic policies and procedures.
  • Computer Skills: Immediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and the Internet. Education/training or work experience in computer basics and data entry a must.  Skill in utilizing computers, data entry, output, etc.in generating reports.
  • Professional Skills: Bi-lingual preferred.  Knowledge of dental practices and procedures.  Knowledge of dental clinic operations. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance.  Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, patients, clinical support and administrative staff.  Willingness to adhere to all in-house and legal regulations.  Willingness to work inter-departmentally.  Willingness to participate on committees, as assigned by the Dental Director.  Willingness and ability to attend meetings and conference, as requested by the Dental Director.

Eligibility Requirements:


  • All employees must meet eligibility standards in order to be considered for the position applying for.
