Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide quality instruction to students in a self-contained classroom along an academic or functional
skills classroom track. Provide multiple learning opportunities, independent skills, communication and
socialization.
Develop Individual Education Plan (IEP) reports, goals and objectives; attend IEP meetings; establish,
maintain and work toward student goals as outlined in the IEP.
Individualize curriculum to meet student’s specific needs and/or learning styles.
Maintain a highly structured classroom and appropriate level of student supervision at all times.
Administer standardized and non-standardized tests; develop curriculum and lesson plans in
accordance with state guidelines.
Prepare lesson plans, progress reports, report cards and incident reports in a timely manner.
Observe and record academic and behavioral student progress daily.
Develop student’s behavior management skills.
If required, ensure classroom staff attend to the basic physical needs of students, including feeding,
toileting and diapering, and ensuring students receive required medications.
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, communicate effectively and interface with multidisciplinary team including parents, caregivers, social services, district personnel and other outside
support agencies.
Follow guidelines of Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-ACT).
Attend in-service trainings and all other required meetings.
Provide classroom orientation or training for classroom staff.
Complete additional assignments as specified by supervisor.
Adhere to all policies and procedures found in the Edkey Inc. Handbook.
Requirements:
* Hold or obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP Level Clearance.
* Bachelors degree in education, or other related field.
* Fluent in American Sign Language both written and communicative
