Job Description
Robotics Technician of automation equipment used in high-volume production of Automotive metal parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Adhere to all safety and health objectives, policies, and procedures of Topre America to provide for a safe and healthful workplace
- Always Work in a safe manner and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor in order that the situation can be corrected
- Report all accidents and near misses in a timely manner when they occur
- Operate Robotic equipment in accordance with the control plans established to satisfy the customer quality standards and delivery schedule
- Identify, communicate, and document any difficulties relating to the product, process, and/or quality system as per TOPRE AMERICA directives
- Verify implementation and effectiveness of recommended solutions
- Participate in control plan updates as per company protocol
- Participate in the development of robotic path motions and operating parameters for the introduction of new products and the continuous improvement of existing programs to optimize transfer efficiency within the guidelines of the control plans and customer quality standards
- Actively participate in continuous improvement teams
- Support process and maintenance activities consistent with departmental expectations
- Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to the product, process, and/or quality system through designated channels
- Work with equipment suppliers to accurately collect application and performance data on new technology
- Familiar with and the ability to operate automation equipment and machinery in the production of Automotive parts.
- Troubleshoot, disassemble and reassemble mechanical equipment and tools, and repair or replace broken parts as needed.
- Interaction with customers (internal/external) to resolve technical/quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Requires working inside a team with other departments such as weld techs, production, maintenance, quality, or materials groups.
- Supervise trial builds and documents information. (Cycle time, output, issues, etc.…)
- Responsible for trial part quality and robot programming.
- Lead and participate in cost reduction activities such as cycle time reductions, operator reductions, and material flow improvements.
- Creates process layouts that both maximize output and minimize material handling.
- Manages equipment installation: which includes creating bid packages for contractors, reviewing bids, and selecting best fit.
- Implementation of any changes to the process/tooling.
- Prepares data for meeting purposes and the ability to lead and/or participate in meetings effectively.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in a related and technical field of study required or
- 3-5 years of work-related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- work experience combined with current schooling toward a degree will be considered
- Successful completion of the Weld Tech Test
- Previous automotive and robotic experience (preferred)
- Mechanical and electrical experience required
- Must be computer literate on the Windows platform
- Computer technology and programming an asset
Requirements:
- At least three (3) years of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing robotic equipment.
- Self-motivated to learn and implement new processes.
- Ability to work overtime including overnight travel.
- Should also have the ability to modify and program robotic equipment including one or more of the following: Fanuc, Yaskawa, Panasonic, or similar robotic equipment)
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Purchase Orders, and Contracts; the ability to write reports and correspondence. As well as speaking effectively before customers or employees of the organization up to; and including the Director level.
Mathematical Skills
Basic Arithmetic - Addition, Subtraction, Division, Multiplication and Statistics.
Reasoning Ability
Should have the ability to solve practical and abstract problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
- Proficient in the use of a computer.
- Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. CAD and SolidWorks is preferred but not required
- V Lookup, Macros, Pivot Tables experience preferred but not required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- High school education or a GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
