Description:

The 6th-8th Grade Athletic Director, P.E. Teacher, and Coach provides administrative and coaching support to ensure the efficient operation of the organization. This position will also assist the students assigned to the class in their mental, emotional, spiritual and physical development by means of instruction, counseling, discipline and support. This is to include selection and tryouts, practice and skill development, and league play representing Destiny Christian Academy and its mission statement.

Requirements:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist in the supervision and development of coaches.
  • Updating and compiling information with the Sports Media team.
  • Assist in organizing, supervising, and running of the athletic camps and clinics.
  • Collect equipment and uniforms from all the coaches.
  • Assist with creating seasonal athletic sports programs.
  • Assist in ordering athletic awards and distribution of certificates and awards to coaches.
  • Assist in game management.
  • Act as a liaison between department vendors and coaches.
  • Organize student evaluations and creation of documented responses.
  • Assist in the supervision of athletic practices and competitions.
  • Assist in the periodic evaluations of the coaching staff.
  • Assist in organizing and attending all meetings of the athletic department.
  • Ensure that game operations for all athletic events are effective.
  • Assist with partnering organizations and volunteers at events that affect the athletic program.
  • Attend athletic meetings.
  • Facilitate student learning.
  • Manage grading and grade book.
  • Plan, teach, and evaluate lessons and student activities.
  • Evaluate and reflect on student progress.
  • Conduct parent conferences as required.
  • Conduct report card evaluations.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Council students as required.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized classroom.
  • Attend training and in-service days as required.
  • Cover supervision duties as assigned.
  • Monitor student behavior and discipline as necessary.
  • Select a team to represent DCA in league play.

  • Counsel students as required.
  • Attend all games/meets and ride the bus with your team.
  • Other job-related tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree.
  • Credential: State teaching credential strongly recommended.
  • Credential: ACSI teaching credential required if state credential is not valid. If candidate hasn't completed either credential, he or she must be willing to complete ACSI credential during employment.
  • Experience in the management of a relevant athletic program.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Proven ability to plan, multi-task, and lead.
  • Possess knowledge of the policies and practices of DCA and regulations of the league/district in which DCA, the CIF, and the standards of ethical conduct of interscholastic athletic team programs.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms – X, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude in any situation.
  • Ability to work well with students, families and with adult colleagues.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position’s duties are normally performed in a standard work environment based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort is required; therefore, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. He or she may be required to walk or sit for extended periods and may be exposed to outside weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, humidity, rain, and direct sunlight. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and other similar machines.



WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions are dynamic. This requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule that may require occasional weekend and/or evening hours. The employee will be using his or her personal vehicle; therefore, he or she must hold a valid driver’s license in the state where he or she is based and have appropriate auto insurance as required by law. The employee needs to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize work assignments, and do well under pressure. He or she must also demonstrate professionalism and integrity, take initiative, and exercise confidentiality. Finally, the employee must understand and apply all school policies and procedures, follow instructions, be detailed oriented, and have good follow-through on all projects.
