ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in the collaborative execution of the company's accounting operations. This individual will actively contribute to treasury operations, end-of-period closes, annual audit preparation, tax returns, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations. Maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review and accuracy of financial records.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting Department and financial review and analysis.
  • Maintains General Ledger including processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Review expense coding to ensure proper accounting of project work within the maintenance department and assist with cash projections.
  • Perform the processing of functional and benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary.
  • Prepare and analyze the monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports per program and department.
  • Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, budget performance, and financial reporting.
  • Cash management and daily reconciliation of multiple bank accounts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3-5 years experience in an accountant role required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in healthcare strongly preferred.
  • Versed with tax, internal control, AP, fixed assets, cash and bank, financial and management reporting, planning and business development.
  • Detail and quality oriented with an extremely high level of accuracy.
  • Team player, flexible, collaborative, optimistic, cooperative.
  • Experience working with multi entity organization preferred.
  • Experience with consolidated financial statement preferred.
  • Experience with Great Plains preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of all aspects of accounting ability to deal with complex accounting issues.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
  • Strong management abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Self-Motivated with a desire to excel in a fast-paced goal driven work environment.
  • Project and time management skills with demonstrated ability to reliably meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills in English.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
