Lift Maintenance Helper
Pay Range: $21.00 – $24.25/hr
Status: Seasonal Hourly (Non-exempt)
Description:
Lift Maintenance Helpers at Arapahoe Basin are responsible for assisting other Lift Mechanics with a variety of maintenance tasks on aerial tramways and surface lift equipment during the summer season.
Responsibilities include being on site to drive all A-Basin lifts as well as helping with any general lift maintenance tasks.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lift Mechanics with grip, chair, haul rope, carpet, and auxiliary maintenance
- Assist the Lift Electricians with any electrical needs
- Possess an understanding of all lift light boards and know how to read them
- Operate (drive) all A-Basin lifts in a safe manner when line work is being performed
- Be able to switch any A-Basin lift to auxiliary without assistance if needed
- Be familiar with “OSHA” codes and protocols and “Lock-Out Tag Out” procedures
- Be familiar with “Confined Space” procedures to ensure a safe working environment at all times
- Be familiar with “Qualified Climber” and “Fall Protection” procedures and “Basic Safe Rigging Practices” and procedures
- Be familiar with power tools and have the ability to use them safely
- Work with the Lift Maintenance team and other A-Basin operations to ensure a cohesive team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Education Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements:
- 1 year of previous lift operations or lift maintenance experience – required
- Skills Required:
- Ability and knowledge to operate basic hand and power tools
- Ability to identify all lift components and understand their purpose
- Knowledge of proper rigging procedures
- Basic math skills to apply the concepts of algebra and geometry to lift maintenance-related duties
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times
- Ability to use full range of body motion and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Able to stand, walk, kneel, squat, and crawl throughout a 10-hour shift
- Ability to climb ladders and lift a significant portion of own body weight
- Ability to ski at an intermediate or expert level
- Ability to perform all job duties at heights with the use of fall protection
Other Requirements:
- Must pass Lift Maintenance Level 1 qualification exam
- Must pass certified climber training
- Must be available weekends and holidays
- Must provide own ski or snowboard equipment
Work Environment:
· This position will work outdoors in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. Most work is performed around loud machinery sometimes at heights and sometimes in cramped spaces such as a crawl space or machine room. Riding a chair lift is required for this role.
