Sr. Carrier Sales Representative

Continental Logistics is hiring for a Sr. Carrier Sales Representative.

Our Sr. Carrier Sales Representative will spend much of their time building a carrier base that can accommodate our vast range of clients and commodities that we ship daily.

Building a solid carrier base is an essential part to the success of Continental Logistics as there will be both transactional and contractual opportunities where we need to source the best carrier for our clients’ interests.

Negotiating rates, gauging interests for repeat business, understanding the needs and how our carriers work best, as well as reaching out to reach new carriers we have never used before will be the main staples of responsibilities for our Sr. Carrier Sales Representative.

Focusing on making it easier to secure capacity (Trucks for Loads) for our clients and building relationships to allow Continental Logistics to offer competitive rates to our customers is the main goal of our Carrier Sales Team. This role will be a combination of Account Managing, Sales, Operational excellence, and day-to-day operations such as tracking and tracing and assuring on time delivery.

Responsibilities of the Role:

• Network and Source from our current carrier basis to see what other opportunities there are to tap into.
• Relationship building with carriers to ensure we are putting the correct carrier on the correct loads for our clients. (Price and Location)
• Generate new leads and build new carrier relationships.
• Negotiate pricing to allow Continental Logistics to offer price competitive rates to our clients.
• Ensure load requirements match carrier assignments (Reefer, Tanker Endorsement, Alcohol Permit, etc.)
• Understand and Gauge Market Trends and Seasonality of Lane Rates.
• Assist Sales / Business Development Team with insight on lane rates for Quarterly / Annual RFPs and Contractual Lane Requests

Requirements:

• 3 to 5 Years in Road Freight / Brokerage Freight
• Prior Carrier Sales Experience

• This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift and/or move office equipment and files ranging anywhere from 5 – 15 lbs,
• Must be physically able to open filing cabinets and bend, stand, balance, stoop or twist as necessary.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen and hear on the phone for long periods of time.
• Must be able to sit for a minimum of 8 hours
• Vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
