Job Description

The Technical Trainer is responsible for creating and presenting the appropriate training material for the various technical aspects of the manufacturing, assembly, and installation of Maintainer’s products. This position is also responsible for creating and maintaining the associate-level tracking and reporting of the progress of all applicable training. This would include all applicable audits needed to confirm comprehensive understanding of the critical aspects. This position works closely with related internal functions (e.g., Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Production, etc.) throughout the identification, development, and delivery of technical training programs.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  1. Manages the Maintainer Technical Training program by creating, presenting, auditing, and updating technical training documents needed at any of the Maintainer Corporation of Iowa facilities.
  1. Works with all departments (including: engineering, quality, customer service, and manufacturing) to ensure that training materials are complete and appropriate for the particular subject matter.
  1. Tracks all technical training provided at the associate-level. Makes recommendations regarding improvements for training content as well as related administrative/tracking processes.
  1. Works with leadership to develop systems and processes that will provide the most efficient learning environment for those being trained.
  1. Catalogs and manages all technical training information in a structure and format that can be referenced and used in the future or for remote applications.
  1. Research and stay current on industry accepted technical training techniques.
  1. With a focus on continuous improvement, investigate and implement new training programs and interactive techniques as time and budgets allow.
  1. Using available company resources stay current on improvement opportunities by product line.
  1. Based on training knowledge, needs and budgets develop training aids to assist in understanding complex systems.
  1. Performs other duties as requested by the VP of Mfg Operations.

Travel Requirements

Less than 5% overnight travel.

Qualification Requirements

Education, Reasoning ability, and or Experience

  • A minimum of a two year degree is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Detailed experience in one or more of the following subjects: welding, hydraulics, wiring, complex assembly / integration, truck equipment, manufacturing processes, or heavy equipment.
  • Strong understanding and experience in MS Office products, particularly MS PowerPoint.

Communication and Language skills

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondences, and memos. Ability to create presentations and videos that support the needs of the training curriculum. Ability to effectively present information in group situations. Strong attention to detail is required.

Physical Demands

Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required to sit for long periods of time. Required to use hands and fingers to grasp and hold objects, likewise reach with arms and hands.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Possesses strong computer and keyboarding skills. Familiar with all Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Qualified candidates should also be familiar with video recording and editing related media for the purposes of developing training materials.

Qualified candidates must possess strong people relations skills. Displays a positive attitude and friendly personality towards internal and external customers. Must possess strong verbal communication skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations in a calm and professional manner at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will not include any direct supervisory responsibilities.
