Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead Design and Engineering Efforts: Take ownership of mechanical design projects, leading a team of engineers and technicians in conceptualizing, designing, and developing mechanical systems and components for various applications.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise in mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and structural analysis, to guide the design process and ensure robust and innovative solutions.
  • Prototype Development: Oversee the creation of prototypes and proof-of-concept models, utilizing rapid prototyping techniques and hands-on testing to validate designs and iterate improvements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists, to integrate mechanical systems with other subsystems and ensure holistic product development.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and challenges in mechanical designs, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies to address technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, as well as customer requirements and specifications, throughout the design and development process.
  • Vendor Management: Liaise with external vendors, suppliers, and contractors to source components, materials, and services, evaluate proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships to support project objectives.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and support, fostering professional growth and development within the team while demonstrating leadership through example and effective communication.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer Licensed
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and finite element analysis, with demonstrated experience in 3D modeling, simulation, and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, casting, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication, focusing on designing for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations and best practices in quality assurance and reliability engineering.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex engineering challenges, propose innovative solutions, and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, conveying technical concepts and project updates clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership abilities, including the capacity to inspire and motivate team members, foster collaboration and innovation, and drive projects to successful completion within schedule and budget constraints.
