Job Summary

The Head Women's Basketball Coach at Albany State University will lead and oversee all aspects of the women's basketball program, embodying a commitment to excellence both on and off the court. This role demands a dynamic leader skilled in coaching, recruiting, and mentoring student-athletes while fostering a culture of academic achievement, athletic excellence, and community engagement. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to NCAA regulations, and collaborate closely with athletic staff to achieve program objectives and uphold the university's values and traditions.

Responsibilities
  • Manages all operational aspects of the women's basketball program, including scheduling, recruiting, and budgeting management, and compliance with NCAA, SIAC, USG and university regulations.
  • Oversees athlete training and development, and wellness and ensures that all student athletes are meeting the guidelines to maintain academic eligibility and are positioned to obtain their collegiate Bachelor's degree.
  • Develops and implements strategies for team performance improvement, including innovative coaching techniques and game strategies.
  • Fosters and culture of integrity, respect, and sportsmanship within the team, promoting personal and professional development among athletes.
  • Assists in all departmental and university-wide duties and functions, contributing to the broader objectives of the athletics department.
  • Represent the program within the community and in all public relations and media opportunities, maximizing social media and other digital platforms to enhance the program's visibility and engagement with fans and stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with athletic support staff to enhance the student-athlete experience, including academic advisors, strength and conditioning coaches, and athletic trainers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Health, or related field

3 to 5 years of head coaching experience within college athletic programs, demonstrating a successful track record in team development and achievements.

Proven experience in recruiting and retaining student-athletes who excel both athletically and academically.

Significant experience in budget management, strategic planning, and program development within a collegiate sports setting.Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree

Experience in coaching women's basketball at the NCAA Division II level or higher, with a deep understanding of the unique dynamics and requirements of women's collegiate basketball.Proposed Salary
