Job Summary

The Deposit Operations Specialist is a member of the back-office Deposit Operations group which is made up of four support teams: File Maintenance, Quality Control, Transaction, and Call Center. Team members are often cross-trained and positions can be changed fairly easily between teams. As part of the Transaction team, a Deposit Operations Specialist is accountable for adhering to bank procedures and regulates to ensure transactions record in the banking systems in a accurately and in a timely manner.


Responsibilities
  • Performs return item processing for ACH Returns, Check 21 Returns, Unauthorized ACH Handling, Unposted Deposits
  • Ensures accurate and timely entry of Wires through Fed Line; Verifies wires have been input correctly
  • Receives Large Dollar Incoming Return Notifications and notifies appreciate region of return; Inputs Southern accounts return notifications in Federal system to notify bank of first deposit
  • Monitors Foreign Collections Notifications; Prepares form for submission to FNBB of Non-US bank checks; Processes credits from FNBB by pulling amount from GL for customer account deposit.
  • Reviews report for International ACH indicator, verifies non-suspend payment and then updates customer account as appropriate.
  • Monitors Stop Suspects report and placement of Stops daily; Compares to stop pay in Southern's system for accuracy of data; Prepares Return Stop pay report and distributes for review
  • Manages Social Security Reclamations by reviewing notifications from front-line or Social Security Administration and processes return payments as necessary.
  • Processes Fed Returns upon receipt of returned check; Reviews return reason and charges back to customer account.
  • Investigates all check adjustment request from front-line or customer; Researches error and makes adjustment to customers account; Reports check adjustment in Federal system for review and appropriate credit or debit to Southern's account
  • Completes all required training.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of bank operations experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Skill and Knowledge Requirements:
  • Strong customer contact skills, including but not limited to: excellent communications skills, professionalism, and poise when responding to a variety of situations
  • Aptitude for problem solving, excellent reasoning skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Maintain confidentiality of the Bank's records and customer transactions
  • Detail oriented, accurate, and able to multi-task
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products
