POSITION SUMMARY:
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines, and equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  2. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  3. Inspects finished products by examining form and texture to detect imperfections and determines machine changes needed according to dimensional requirements.
  4. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  5. Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  6. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  7. Fabricates devices to repair or replace defective components.
  8. Lubricates and cleans parts.
  9. Starts devices to test their performance.
  10. Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  11. Welds metal parts to steel structural members.
  12. Operates forklift, Bobcat, etc. for transporting materials.
  13. Initiates purchase requests for parts and machines.
  14. Enters logs of all work orders into Plexus.
  15. Cleans tools, equipment, machines, and work area.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Knowledge of basic computer and keyboard use. Journeyman certification through state approved apprenticeship program required. Forklift license required.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to work any continuous or fixed shift schedule including any day of the calendar week as required for operation of the position and mandatory overtime as implemented by management.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Equal Pay Act Range

Hourly Range $26.11 to $29.53 plus benefits and incentive plans.
