IT Support Technician

Steelite International is seeking an IT Hardware Support Specialist to join our IT team at Steelite International in Youngstown, Ohio. The IT Support Technician will be responsible for providing first-level technical support and assistance to end-users within the organization. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues, as well as providing excellent customer service.

What will I do as an IT Hardware Support Specialist

Essential Job Functions

• Provide prompt and courteous technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person.
• Assist users with software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
• Configure equipment for employee use
• Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance via phone, email, or in person
• Troubleshoot and resolve a variety of Tier 1 technical problems related to desktops, laptops, peripherals, software, and network connectivity.
• Escalate complex issues to Tier 2 support specialists.
• Refer major hardware or software problems to vendors or technicians for service
• Effectively communicate with users to understand and diagnose technical issues.
• Follow up with users after an issue has been resolved for confirmation
• Monitor ticket system and assign tickets to appropriate support
• Stay up-to-date on the latest technology trends and troubleshooting techniques.
• Monitor and maintain related inventory
• Train employees on how to use current and new technologies

What are the qualifications and skills?

The ideal candidate must have:

• Degree or Certification in a related field
• 1 year of Technical Support
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Strong familiarity with Windows environments (10/11, Server, etc).
• Strong understanding of computer hardware and software fundamentals
• Strong understanding of network fundamentals
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
