Job Description
Summary and Description of Duties
Assist in ensuring that the culinary area is clean and operates efficiently.
PRIMARY DUTIES (list order does not signify level of importance):
• Maintains kitchen work areas, dining room, and restaurant equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition
• Sweeps and mops floors
• Washes worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks
• Segregates and removes trash and garbage from kitchen and dining room and places it in designated containers
• Steam-cleans or hoses-out garbage cans
• Cleans dishes and machines after use
• Polishes silver
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or by use of hand-truck
• May assist in setting up beverage, buffet, and related stations
• May assist in washing and peeling vegetables
• Loads or unloads trucks picking up or delivering supplies and food
• Maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of the dining area and cashier area
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Ability to read, write and communicate clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated knowledge food service operations and sanitation and safety techniques used in food handling.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Ability to pass the food sanitation certification within the first six (6) months of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
• Standing for extended periods, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, oily mists, steam, heat, dusts, fumes, and smoke
Education/Experience:
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of six (6) months of food service experience
