The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking energetic and responsible individuals to work as Camp Counselors, Program Assistants, and Activity Specialists for our summer day camp programs for grades K-8. We are looking for seasonal (part time, up to 40 hours/week) and regular (part time, up to 27 hours/week) employees. Summer Camp runs May-September. The pay for this position is between $13-$16 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Summer Camp Counselors must be over the age of 18 and have at least 6 months of childcare experience.

Program Assistants must be at least 16 years old or an individual of any age with less than six months of childcare experience.

Activity Specialists facilitate one or more specific activities such as Creative Art, Music/Dance, Archery & Marksmanship (training will be provided), Nature, etc.

All three positions will have the opportunity to positively impact hundreds of youth in our community. We are looking for dependable role models who love to have fun! In camp, you will be responsible for the well-being of your campers and providing a safe, engaging environment for them.

DUTIES

1. Interpret, communicate, and promote Y mission, goals, and objectives to department employees, volunteer leaders, members, and the community.

2. Responsible for the well-being of campers while providing a safe, engaging environment for them through games, conversations, activities led by specialists, and more.

3. All staff will receive pre-camp training to ensure they have the knowledge and expertise to work with their campers.

4. Will lead and facilitate games and activities for a group of campers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates must be at least 16 years old. College level courses and CPR/AED/First Aid are highly desirable.
