Job Description

Position Overview: The CNC Programmer will be responsible for programming and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision components according to engineering specifications. This position requires expertise in Fusion 360 software and a strong understanding of machining processes. The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams.

Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize Fusion 360 software to create and optimize CNC programs for machining operations, including milling, turning, and multi-axis machining.
  2. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to develop machining processes and tool paths that meet quality and production requirements.
  3. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement.
  4. Set up CNC machines and tooling according to program specifications, including selection of cutting tools, fixtures, and work holding devices.
  5. Conduct tooling and material evaluations to optimize machining processes and achieve desired outcomes.
  6. Perform test runs and troubleshoot programming and machining issues to ensure the quality and accuracy of finished components.
  7. Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
  8. Document and maintain CNC programs, tooling configurations, and machining parameters for future reference.
  9. Adhere to safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
  10. Provide training and support to machine operators and other personnel as needed to facilitate effective CNC machining operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC programmer, with proficiency in Fusion 360 software required.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, including cutting tool selection, speeds and feeds, and machining strategies.
  • Experience with a variety of CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
