Salary:

Rapid City Medical Center is looking for a motivated individual to join our Maintenance team. This position plans and directs overall management of clinic’s physical facilities and related services including maintenance, security, HVAC, grounds and fleet maintenance. Responsible for ensuring all clinic facilities are safe and conducive to the delivery of quality patient care.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Maintains records of cyclical maintenance projects. Monitors performance so projects are completed according to acceptable maintenance schedules.
  • Responsible for all facilities (interiors and exteriors), building equipment, grounds and vehicles. Ensures that routine maintenance is performed.
  • Performs routine and specific repairing, remodeling and overhauling of equipment, furniture, cabinetry and fixtures, including changing light bulbs, as required.
  • Assemble, move and install furniture, fixtures and equipment. Contacts third parties to assist with this as necessary.
  • Responds to emergency equipment problems.
  • Regulates building heating and cooling thermostats.
  • Keeps COO informed of any unsafe items or conditions.
  • Works closely with administration on all building projects, including repair, construction and renovation. 
  • Ensures snow removal and salting is carried out in a timely manner.
  • Responds to requests for furniture and equipment from off-site storage facilities.
  • Maintains order of storage units.
  • Maintains department records of work and maintenance performed.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly workstation.
  • Confers with utility companies, city and state inspectors and insurance companies as needed.
  • Serves as member of clinic safety team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


SKILLS:

  • Skill in using variety of tools.
  • Skill in repairing equipment and remodeling work areas.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC control systems.
  • Basic knowledge and skill in painting and carpentry.
  • Capable of reading and understanding blueprints and technical specifications for building systems.


ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:  On-site work area environment including outside work.  Frequent exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards.  Some driving to vendor or satellite locations.  Minimal exposure to communicable diseases.  Occasional evening or weekend work.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:  Prolonged walking or standing, repeated stooping, squatting, stretching and climbing of ladders.  Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 100 pounds.  Must be able to work independently.
