Job Title: Line Operator

Reports to: Plant Manager

Supervises: None

Job Summary

The Line Operator is responsible for accurate processing of production orders in compliance company standards of safety and security and customer requirements. Responsible for moving, locating, stocking, stacking, and counting product. Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of equipment. Responsible for picking customer orders, prepping order and staging them in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security, and productivity. Responsible for the completion and accuracy of all orders.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Order Prepping

  • Pull and prepare product for processing, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is picked and prepped for processing.
  • Perform duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
  • Carry or transport orders to the production area.


Order Completion

  • Blend, compound or process ingredients according to formulas.
  • Ensure processed material is packaged and labeled in accordance with cGMPs and customer requirements.
  • Accurately count material and record it on the appropriate processing checklist.
  • Efficiently move product from production line to staging area.


Equipment

  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
  • Report equipment malfunctions.
  • If applicable, perform minor maintenance to keep equipment in working condition.


Quality

  • Ensure inbound and outbound production orders are accurate and free of damage.
  • Complete all processing checklists and daily logs as work is completed.
  • Perform visual quality inspection of product and correlates observations with work order specifications and instrument readings to facilitate regulation of process and production of standardized product.

Safety, Sanitation, Security

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Completes cleaning procedures based on line and level of cleaning required and specified in work order.
  • Assist in maintain the security of the processing area.
  • Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety.
  • Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.


Inventory

  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee tight inventory and component control and security are maintained.


Other Duties May Include

  • Change forklift battery, if applicable.
  • Change propane tank, if applicable.
  • Participate in physical inventories.
  • Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed.
  • Perform other work as may be requested by supervision.
  • Complete daily activity sheets.
  • Draws samples of products for analysis.
  • Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures by various means of verbal and written communications.


Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • One to three years of experience in a similar position.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiarity with material handling is preferred.
  • Operator must be able to read and count accurately, do simple math, and write legibly.
  • Must have the ability to operate a forklift or have completed a forklift training course.
  • Must be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to follow instructions is extremely important.
