Warehouse Supervisor

Gloster is currently looking for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join our South Boston, VA team. We are looking for a responsible individual to help lead and motivate the warehouse team to ensure that customer orders are picked and shipped in a timely manner while accurately accounting for inventory usage, product rotation, bin audits, and cycle counting. The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for department safety, meeting company goals, and employee engagement. The ideal candidate has proven leadership skills and warehouse experience. This position will report to the Warehouse & Logistics Manager.

Essential Function/Duties:

  • Maximize efficiencies and reduce costs through hands-on initiatives, including quality, lean processes, and workflow improvements.
  • Maintain order accuracy by verifying the quantity and quality of customer shipments.
  • Monitor outgoing orders to ensure that orders are completed in a timely fashion (LTL, FTL, or container).
  • Oversee warehouse staff by training, guiding, organizing, and delegating the workload appropriately.
  • Complete warehouse staff evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Monitor carrier disputes of various causes to ensure resolution and mitigate future conflicts.
  • Work with warehouse manager and human resources to estimate and manage labor requirements in accordance with annual budget and seasonal demands.
  • Utilize team to meet and exceed production goals or schedules.
  • Interact with Quality and Customer Service to resolve root cause(s) of customer and/or product issues.
  • Promote and maintain positive employee relations and activities.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, quality control, lean processes, and shipping and receiving.
  • Forklift or other powered industrial truck (PIT) experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Competencies: Ability to communicate effectively across multiple channels is required. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to take initiative and show proven leadership competencies. Must have well developed problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, and follow through. Must work well within a team and show the ability to delegate.

Time will be spent walking, standing, and riding forklift. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Motions such as kneeling, stooping, and bending will be daily motions.

Work Environment: Must be able to work in a production warehouse environment which is not climate controlled. The environment may also be dusty and/or exposure to fiber particles. Ability to work a varied schedule when necessary and overtime as scheduled.
