Governmental Direct Sales Representative Job Description

Primary Responsibility Summary

Primary purpose is to be the first touchpoint of customer experience for governmental and municipal customers and research opportunities within the territory. Daily activities involve responding to governmental inquiriesfrom marketing channels, reviewing state and municipal bid websites, cold calling accounts and new business inquirieswithin a territory, generating quotes to quantify an opportunity, attending tradeshows, and updating records in internal and external databases

Reports to: DSR Team Leader

Reimbursed travel as needed (tradeshows, demos, training)

  • Logging Activities

  • Following up on all inquirieswithin one hour during the week (Weekend inquiries have adeadline of 10AM on Monday)

Responsibilities

  • Contacting marketing inquiriesand logging an activity within 1 hour of submission. Inquiriessubmitted over the weekend will need to be followed up by 10AM on Monday.

  • 1 Hour leads: Southeastern's Marketing website and vendor submitted leads

  • Mass data lists will have individual timelines to that group

  • Scheduling follow-up calls resulting in timely and helpful information that results in a written sales opportunity and warm pass off to sales team

  • Cold calling and prospecting using internal and external databases (i.e. Salesforce, EDA, Hubspot, purchased data lists, etc.)

  • Inputting, updating, and maintaining customer records in internal databases

  • Assigning written sales opportunities to the proper marketing campaign to maintain reporting accuracy

  • Pass along all relevant inquiriesto branch service and parts staff. Will need to follow up with the staff member to collect information, fill out a written sales opportunity, and tag with the appropriate campaign

  • Follow up with sales staff to ensure that written opportunities are worked and completed. If sales staff cannot make contact, DSR should take back the potential customer information and continue making contact

  • Setting up, attending, collecting potential customer information, and dismantling local tradeshow as required

  • Special projects as assigned

  • Traveling to other branches as required

Educational and Experience Requirements

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and the ability to listen carefully

  • Obsessively organized coupled with the ability to multi task

  • Familiar with CRM software like Salesforce

  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to use a calculator

  • Minimum of High School diploma or GED, some college preferred

  • Knowledge of heavy equipment is a plus

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Work is typically performed within a store environment and at a desk.

  • The employee will be occasionally required to lift 5-10 lbs overhead.

  • The employee is expected to be able to sit for long periods of time and operate a motor vehicle occasionally.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, kneel, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee is regularly required to talk and listen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision.

  • The ability to operate a computer and cell phone is required.
